Welcome to K-9 Lifesavers

K-9 Lifesavers is an all-volunteer, approved 501(c)(3), private non-profit rescue group, dedicated to saving the lives of homeless and abandoned dogs from high-kill shelters, and other high-risk situations. We are a team of local volunteers, based in the Washington, DC metro area.

We rescue dogs and puppies from high- kill shelters and high-risk situations in Georgia, West Virginia, the Carolina’s, Tennessee, Alabama, Texas and Kentucky, where dogs are typically held for only three to seven days before euthanasia.

What We Do:

  • Rescue: We actively rescue dogs from shelters, neglectful environments, and other high-risk situations.

  • Foster Care: Our network of foster homes ensures each dog receives personalized care in a safe, loving environment before finding their forever home.

  • Adoption: We facilitate the adoption process, helping you find the perfect match for your family. Our adoption team is committed to making sure both dogs and owners are a good fit for each other.

  • Education: We offer resources to help pet owners maintain happy and healthy relationships with their pets.
